Day Nine: Langholm to Carlisle

Border….golly
Not exactly Edward Longshanks, but nine days, nine marathons, 531,000 steps (approx …obvs) and Scotland is conquered. Unbelievable hospitality, particularly today: thanks to the Co. Tyrone farmer who gave us the run of his border garden for lunch and the girls at the agricultural suppliers for the tea. Must also mention Rockliffe’s genial Geoff, Kerry and 10 month retriever Jessie for not only tea (in a pot…so important) but also joining us for a few miles along the gorgeous tidal river Eden. Now then, ice, lots of it, spare me a day off please. Video tomorrow. Wednesday 08.30 we have a posse of walkers. We’ll be ready ….
