Day four: Leven to North Queensferry

'What could possibly go wrong?' This is the childish mantra I keep asking to passers by when they ask in horror what this suit is trying to complete. Well today, rather a lot. I thought Everest was the toughest day she has ever endured but I think 30 degrees of Scottish heat (this is not a misprint) came close. There was not a whisper of wind and it never really cooled down. Someone in Dunfermline said to me 'I've lived here 29 years and this was the hottest day ever'.
