Day 7
Leek to Matlock
Trick of the Dales
Last night the hotel in Leek gave me a disabled room, they must have known something ... but yesterday's 32 degree toil was nothing compared to this morning: three hours with no paths yet bounteous nettles, ferociously bordered kissing gates and crafty electric fences (twice ... no, not there). The Derbyshire Dales, all 1100m of ascent of them challenged but positively bristled with beauty. Now then thankyous: firstly to Helen for providing an industrial picnic lunch, secondly the Manifold Inn for allowing us to devour it in their beer garden and then lovely lady in the Beresford tea room in Hartingdon for the massive salted type-2 caramel ice cream. Rob, Anette, good to be walking with you again.
A week done: seven days of heat, Soreen, Kenyan tea, antibiotics, around 400,000 steps if anyone's interested (no I'm not on Strava, get over it), one totally atrocious sausage sandwich and many many hydration breaks ..., oh and one tiger
Thanks team, a lot. Over 7K in this tiger's tank just from donations, thank you North Wales, Cheshire and the Dales.
175 miles completed, 825 remaining .... How far did you walk today?
