Day 6
Crewe to Leek
Approaching week end but today a challenge. Extra time meant just a few hours kip (they do put us through it) and then the streets, towpaths and bridleways were largely empty due to a collective and fully understandable nationwide hangover. But not for everybody as there were some memorable kind moments which help so much: firstly Caroline in the blue Cupra who not only filled our water bottles but then shot off before returning to furnish us with Magnums and Soleros: proper old skool confection. Then there was the frighteningly fit birthday girl: 40 today, who, with her family back-up team, was running 40K to celebrate - many happy return Gemma. Finally Tina who shared her pot of tea with us from the end of her canal narrowboat. Barge & Tina ... you couldn't make it up.
150 miles completed, 850 remaining .... How far did you walk today?
