Day 38

St Austell to East Portholland

Thousand cuts
The tiger suit was designed and built for the 2010 London marathon. It has done rather more since then. Today it got battered like never before, the legacy of hundreds of low hanging barbed branches on the saturated and dizzying Cornish coastal trails. There were countless cramped styles and kissing gates, all with crowns of thorns insidiously ganging up on the tiger like hoodies round cashpoints. She has nearly lost an ear and her face and body is now a brutal brail of striations and scarifications which left both of us close to surrender.
However, some of the support on the paths was just extraordinary, many who have been following online and in the media. Does it make a difference...of course it does and it is going to start mattering a whole load more over the final few days.

James was a colossus today with seemingly bottomless levels of energy and encouragement, as were the Chapman duo, with Dawn bossing every break with her usual diligence.
But Cornwall, despite all its utter magnificence has come close to derailing this, my lower back is here in name only ... Can someone please go and cut those hedges. I'll see you, or most of me will tomorrow. Thanks so much for the support.

911 miles completed. 89 remaining. How far did you walk today?
