Day 37
Liskeard to St Austell
Earning our Corn
You know the Cornish drill: hills, steps, ridiculous coastal views ... and repeat. 1000 metres gained and around 52,000 steps if anyone cares. And for those who keep asking, I don't do Strava, don't understand Garmin and think FitBits are a bit silly. But I can walk and so could the team today of an increasingly feverishly fit James, an immaculately tailored Serena and a matinee with Annie, Steve and Mike: it's been too long you three. Huge drama to find some signal for an extended BBC interview, thank you Rachel for rescuing. In a rush to make it the suit was at full clip and got completely clotheslined by a low branch.
Some big nods too: the Museum Tearoom for a cuppa and free bacon sandwich, the Red Rocket cafe for letting us use their back yard for lunch and another decent cup of Rosie. Then of course Polruan Ferry for a free passage across the bay, the Cornish Bakery in Fowey for multiple pasties, Sam's late on for the welcome chilled ginger beer and Greg Steele for a truly terrifying massage...you see horrid Liskeard chip shop... that's how you do it!
Tomorrow....some hills I believe.
