Day 35

Moretonhampstead to Tavistock

Moor the merrier

Over 40 years ago I left my digs in Bournemouth and said goodbye to my landlady and their eight year old daughter and even younger son. I have thought of them often, their ages and countenances unchanged. Today Paul showed up, by surprise, an experienced and ebullient officer in the navy and one of a big herd of 2legged beasts of Dartmoor (it's close to Bodmin ...).
There were plenty of surprises today: my old boss showed up at 10 km with a seasoned Exodus posse as did Richard, the director of this magnificent wilderness, another I'd not seen for 27 years. Many repeat walkers and a punishing pace but a beautiful day, perfect weather, outstanding lunch and a proper challenge with some tortuous hills. Home strait...? Stop it. Now. It's miles to go, but tomorrow we cross into Cornwall...

848 miles completed. 152 remaining. How far did you walk today?
