Day 33
Beer to Exmouth
Ex rated
The words Dorset and Devon normally conjure up visions of rolling hills, sparkling coves and cream teas (more of that). I will never look at them the same: for both read hills, steep hills, vertiginous and tortuous ones. To tame these you need guidance, power, endurance, strength and determination; throughout this crusade the toughest have been Jenni (on her 12th supporting walk over two years and the Everest marathon with me in '22 - #levels), Ali, who showed us a very clean pair of Nike heels for most of last week and now the obscenely fit Roxy who even ran up some of those slopes. She was a colossus but I was frankly glad to see the back of her after lunch when she piked out so we could slow down. All three of these titans are girls. I'll leave it there. (I've taken advice on this last sentence)
These last three days have been beautiful yet brutal, captivating yet challenging but the support has never wavered, nor have the donations. Thanks Ru and Caroline for the back up and bed and rations for the night, thanks Sara for getting 2Legs on BBC twice this morning and thanks all the walkers we met who just 'get' what we're trying to achieve. Oh and nod to the Anchor in Beer, I got breakfast ... no thanks to O2 who have made denying a signal into a cruel art form.
Those tights ....? Still a long way off. Loved my scone today ... jam/cream configuration? .... Let the battle commence...
802 miles completed. 198 remaining. How far did you walk today?
