Day 32
Bridport to Beer
A scent of a tiger
'As the Chesil starts you have stones big as skulls, by Bridport they are the size of peas' ~ the words of the immortal Brian Jackman. Today I felt as insignificant as a pea, faced with 1400 metres of climb along this 95 mile Unesco Heritage site, including the highest brutal and dizzying peak, Golden Cap. Just as savage were the two leaders, Jenni, who always answers the cause in her campervan (#levels) and the frankly stupidly strong Roxy who made not one error or aberration today. I don't think either of them broke sweat. I did.
Surprises are always welcome and seeing my old chum Simon Reeve lifted my day no end and I know just how busy his schedule is right now. Thanks mate, you looked in decent nick too even if you only did a half day...
I think the tiger's head left striped DNA on at least 300 branches. I think I left my feet somewhere in Dorset but somehow I'm now in Devon but I don't know how. Thank you Elaine, you have been an immense team manager these last five days and as for my two outriders today: I'm in awe. Wow that was tough.
Someone asked me if I was going to ever wear the striped tights again .... that's for the last day and right now that's 50/50.
781 miles completed. 219 remaining. How far did you walk today?
