Day 28

Brockenhurst to Poole

A load of pony

There is hospitality then there is Brockenhurst hospitality which sweetened my day off no end: curry (utter quality), reception including two mayors and a lot of TLC, thank you Amanda, Lily, David, Joanna et al, Kingfishers is a palace. And thank you Chris Packham who proffered a slightly more virtuous curry and some quality badinage, how I needed that session of putting (some) of the world to right. Mentor, hero and friend. Now then, today was a story of open heather, heath and forest dotted by wild horses and ponies, then 32 knots of headwind along the Bournemouth prom as most of the beach arced and scudded into our shins: a savage South Coast exfoliation.

Ali geed …us up all day, David didn’t break a sweat, Emma likewise, and Georgia probably gets Duracell award, with her husband Ade at one stage the custodian of two vans. However a few fell by the wayside and not even Mo’s kitchen could revive them. Alum Hut was decent soiree scoff but the manager an utter w*****. Weather shocking tomorrow and much elevation. Thanks so much for really early physio Natalie, we depart at seven …. breakfast starts at eight, O2 has somehow got worse… plus ca change.

700 miles completed. 300 remaining. How far did you walk today?
