Day 23

Greenwich to Wimbledon

Capital beat

'A cooler day tomorrow' they brayed ...28.3 C along the Thames with London burning. Every icon, edifice and monument was covered, and by a decent posse, a tale almost of a bridge too far. Magnificent contributions from Barry, Eric and Zarrina for the whole day and some big partial shifts from Rob, Leah, Margot and Jackie. Chocolate delivery from A & S in Canary Wharf very welcome (chilled next time please) and good to see Katia and Lucy on Waterloo Bridge, the former on crutches (#commitment). Top images Jules and some sumptuous video from RC.

Blindingly hot, busy and jammed with tourists, just how the tiger likes it. ITV covered us online and on telly, down to teamwork, stripes earned all round but perhaps not from me as whilst interrupting a joyous Indian Wedding on the South Bank, in a moment of gallantry I tried to kiss the utterly charming bride's hand and the claw tw***** her across the head. Sorry love, you looked lovely. Big group Sunday, support crew and vehicle back and the missing ingredient of the epicurean trinity has returned: Soreen, tea and Mrs B. Game on. See you tomorrow.

575 miles completed. 425 remaining. How far did you walk today?
