Day 19

Dedham to Maldon

Someone sent me a message this morning: 'you've smashed this Paul...' Firstly this is a team thing and secondly 50 miles is still a fair old trawl ...in 33 degrees. Jenny showed up again, her sixth, just extraordinary and did not put a foot wrong, but just moved them rather quickly for my liking. Limping into Maldon in the late evening was not the preparation for the final day I envisaged. Hamstrings tight, calves grumbling, feet moaning but worst of all was the glutes, not helped by 20 km of tarmac .... my asphalt tender most of the evening after that, anyone's would. Big shout to the couple with two labradors who gifted two Cornettos and the lady from the Funeral Directors who gave me a hug but more importantly a crisp note.

Huge closure to the first half tomorrow in Southend with a few surprises along the way. Trevor & Dawn: every tea stop, every lunch, every Soreen slice, every detail checked and re-checked, every day. Thank you.

08.00 tomorrow, let's put this half to bed.

475 miles completed, 525 miles remaining. How far did you walk today?
